What Google Has Actually Said in 2026

Google’s September 3 announcement says Keep Live starts rolling out that week for Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers; Workspace business access is coming later. This does not establish availability on every account, device, or language. Check eligibility and your app for your own access.

The update is evidence that Keep is being offered, rather than a guarantee about its future. Distinguish the product named in an announcement from a particular feature or way of opening it.

Google’s migration notice gives October 13, 2025 as the start of an extended rollout. Current Tasks Help says mobile notifications come from Tasks or Google Calendar, with notification permission enabled.

• Check the account, date, time, and notification settings in Tasks or Calendar.
• Location-triggered reminders are no longer created or delivered; previous location details are in the migrated task description.
• Edit reminder titles in Tasks or Calendar; renaming the Keep note alone does not update them.
• For managed work or school accounts, check that the administrator enables Tasks.

Use a harmless test task to check notification delivery before relying on an important deadline. Change one setting at a time so you can identify the cause.

Keep export Help lists undeleted text and list items, attachments, colors, state, collaborators, and labels. Some work or school data may be unavailable.

1. Open Google Takeout with the account that holds your notes.
2. Deselect unwanted products, select Keep, and continue.
3. Choose delivery, frequency, format, and archive size, then create the export.
4. When ready, download all required archive parts and extract them.

Preparation can take minutes to days, and intervening changes may be absent. Follow Google’s download instructions and check the result.

A completed download is only the start. Pick a few notes without sensitive personal information and check the result:

• Text: can you read non-English text, line breaks, and URLs?
• Lists: can you identify the items and their checked state?
• Attachments: can you open the images, audio, or drawings you used?
• Context: is the label or collaborator information you need present?
• Storage: can you locate the archive and extracted copy, and is their sharing scope intentional?

If the export contains HTML, JSON, and attachments, preserve the complete original set. Inspect your actual filenames and layout. Keeping JSON does not establish that any particular destination can import it.

For a trial migration, compare lists, attachments, collaboration access, and reminders as well as text. Exported collaborator information does not automatically recreate permissions in another app. Check reminder tasks separately in Tasks; a Keep copy is not proof that notifications have been restored.

Refresh the copy after adding notes. Takeout offers exports every two months for one year, except under the Advanced Protection Program. Download links expire after about seven days, so verify storage, not just the notification. See Takeout’s schedule and expiry guidance.

A copy accessible outside the same Google account can help if that account becomes unavailable. External drives can also fail, and other clouds need capacity, permission, and account management. Check that you can reopen the copy rather than assuming any location is permanent.

This site is operated by the developer of Simple Memo, an iPhone app for sending short typed notes to configured destinations such as email. It is not a bulk Keep importer or a way to reproduce Keep drawings, images, and sharing permissions.
