Notion integration
Write or speak a thought and, in addition to sending the email, it is saved as one page in a “SimpleMemo Inbox” in Notion. You never have to open Notion to add to it, and typing, voice, Siri and Apple Watch all take the same path.
How it flows
Write / speak (typing, voice, Siri, Apple Watch)
↓
Held on device ← done here. You can write the next memo already
↓
Email sent + one page added to the “SimpleMemo Inbox” in Notion
(and appended to your vault, if Obsidian is on)
You can write the next memo as soon as it is held on device. “Saved to Notion” appears only once Notion returns a page ID. Anything not saved yet stays on the device and can be retried from History.
What it does
| What it does | Notes |
|---|---|
| Saves each memo to a “SimpleMemo Inbox” in Notion | One memo, one page. First non-empty line is the title, the text is the body, the capture time is Captured |
| Typing, voice, Siri, Apple Watch (via iPhone) | All take the same path |
| Saves to Notion in addition to sending email | This is the default behaviour |
| Saves to Notion without sending email | A Premium setting |
| Works alongside the Obsidian integration | With Obsidian on, the memo is appended to your vault too. Turning on “Save to Notion only” stops the Obsidian append |
| Retry of unsaved memos | From History. It reuses the original ID, capture time and connection, so it does not spend the daily free allowance twice |
| Disconnecting | Pages already in Notion, and unsaved memos on the device, both stay |
What it does not do
This section exists so that nothing here is overstated. None of the following is implemented.
| Not available | State |
|---|---|
| Bringing changes from Notion back into the app (two-way sync) | Not available. The role is one-way saving to Notion only |
| Choosing which database to save into | Not available. Memos go to the “SimpleMemo Inbox” created on connect |
| Tagging, automatic classification, rewriting the text | Not available. What you wrote is what is saved |
| Attachments | Not available |
| Starting without email | Not possible. An email destination is a prerequisite. Only the Premium “Save to Notion only” setting removes it |
| Choosing Notion during first-run setup | Not possible. First run only sets the email destination. Notion is connected from Settings |
What we deliberately do not own
There is no Notion viewer and no Notion editor inside the app. Notion is a destination; this app only writes to it. Not adding more screens to organise things in is a deliberate choice.
Privacy
- Your Notion access token is never returned to the device. It is encrypted and held server-side.
- Delivery records keep metadata only — there is no column that holds the memo text.
- Memos not yet sent stay in the existing encrypted outbox on the device.
- Account deletion removes the server-side data for each stored and disconnected Notion connection first. Pages inside Notion are not deleted.
Getting started
- Open Settings in the app
- Turn on Notion → “Notion integration”
- Approve on Notion’s authorisation screen (one “SimpleMemo Inbox” is created in your private space)
From then on, memos go to both email and Notion. To stop sending email and use Notion alone, use “Save to Notion only” on the same screen (Premium).
FAQ
Can I use it together with the Obsidian integration?
Yes. With both on, a memo goes to email, Notion and Obsidian. Turning on “Save to Notion only” stops the Obsidian append.
Do other apps already do this?
Other apps can save to Notion. Nothing here claims to be a world first or the only one. What this app offers is that typing, voice, Siri and Apple Watch all take the same path.
What if I cannot tell whether it saved?
“Saved to Notion” appears only once a Notion page ID is confirmed. Anything unconfirmed stays in History, where you can copy the text or send it again.
