When does AI auto-tagging launch?
It's live now, shipped as a free app update. Update to the latest version on the App Store — or download the app free — and it's ready to use.
Which iPhones are supported?
On-device AI tagging (Apple Foundation Models) runs on Apple Intelligence-capable iPhones on iOS 26 or later. On other devices, a lightweight on-device formatter (rules + natural language processing) automatically produces the same structure — title, tags, and type — so the feature works on any supported device (iOS 16+).
Are my notes sent to an external server?
No. AI tagging and title generation run entirely on your iPhone using Apple Foundation Models, with no network calls for that processing. Note that sending a memo to your own inbox still uses regular email delivery (SMTP), as always. See the privacy policy for details.
How are tags generated?
The AI reads your memo and adds 1–3 noun tags describing the content, a title of up to 20 characters, and a type such as todo, idea, or log. Your original text is never rewritten. With Obsidian integration on, the note is appended to your vault with the tags intact.
Is it useful without Obsidian?
Yes. The generated title becomes the email subject line, so memos are easier to find in your inbox. Turn on Obsidian integration and it extends to fully organized, tagged notes.
What if the AI produces a bad tag?
Every AI result is validated on-device; if it doesn't meet the constraints, the app automatically falls back to the lightweight formatter. In both cases your original memo text is preserved unchanged.
