Using Simple Memo with iCloud Mail

Learn how to set your iCloud Mail address as the destination in Simple Memo. Thanks to iCloud, memos will automatically appear on all your Apple devices — iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Before You Begin

  • iPhone (iOS 16.0 or later)
  • An iCloud Mail address (@icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com) ready to use
  • Confirm iCloud Mail is on: Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Mail (Use on this iPhone turned on)
  • Simple Memo downloaded from the App Store

Setup Steps (5 Steps)

  1. Download the app
    Search "Simple Memo" on the App Store, or use this direct link to download immediately.
  2. Open the app and navigate to Settings
    When the app opens, you'll see the memo input screen. Tap the gear icon in the top-left corner to open Settings.
  3. Enter your iCloud Mail address
    Under "Email Settings," tap "To," type your iCloud address (e.g., yourname@icloud.com) and tap "Verify." The "Verify Email" screen opens and sends you a code. (If you enter the address on the "Send this memo to yourself" screen that appears when you first send a memo, tap "Send verification code" there.)
  4. Enter the 6-digit code from iCloud Mail
    Open the Mail app on your iPhone and check your inbox. Find the verification email from Simple Memo and enter the 6-digit code in the app, then tap "Verify." Check the Junk folder if it's not in your inbox.
  5. Done — start sending memos
    Setup complete. Type a memo and tap Send. Your memo will arrive in iCloud Mail and automatically sync across all your Apple devices. The Free plan gives you 3 sends a day, with no time limit.

Tips: Making the Most of iCloud Mail with Simple Memo

Tip 1 — Seamless Sync Across All Apple Devices

Memos delivered to iCloud Mail automatically sync via iCloud to your iPhone, iPad, and Mac simultaneously. Write a memo on iPhone, read it on your Mac's Mail app — it's all seamless within the Apple ecosystem.

Tip 2 — Smart Mailboxes on Mac Mail

Use the Smart Mailbox feature in the macOS Mail app to automatically collect memos from Simple Memo. Go to Mailbox → New Smart Mailbox, set the condition "From contains noreply@mail.simplememofast.com," and all your memos appear in a dedicated folder.

Tip 3 — Access Anywhere via iCloud.com

You can access your iCloud Mail from any browser at iCloud.com. Sign in with your Apple Account to read all your memos from any computer, even without an Apple device nearby.

Troubleshooting

Verification code not arriving at iCloud Mail

Check your Junk folder first. Then make sure iCloud Mail is on for this iPhone: Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Mail, and turn on Use on this iPhone. When it is off, mail to the address does not show up in the Mail app on this iPhone. Turn it on, then resend the code from the app.

I don't have an iCloud Mail address — how do I get one?

Go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud, tap iCloud Mail (or Mail) and follow the onscreen steps to create an @icloud.com address (separate from your Apple Account email; it can't be renamed later). Once created, you can use it as your Simple Memo destination.

Memos are arriving but I'm not getting notifications

Check Settings → Notifications → Mail and confirm notifications are enabled for the Mail app. Also check that notifications for your iCloud account specifically are turned on within the Mail notification settings.

Can I use @me.com or @mac.com addresses?

Yes. @me.com and @mac.com are Apple's legacy iCloud email domains and are managed by the same system as @icloud.com. They work identically for receiving Simple Memo messages.

iCloud Mail isn't receiving my verification code — help?

Check Junk, then go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Mail and make sure Use on this iPhone is on. When it is off, mail to that address does not show up in the Mail app on this iPhone.
