しかし2025年、Captioは突如サービスを終了しました。公式からの詳細な説明はありませんでしたが、長年アップデートが滞っていたこと、iOS の新しいAPIへの対応が遅れていたこと、そして開発者の方針転換が主な理由と推測されています。App Storeからも削除され、既存ユーザーも使えなくなりました。

In 2025, Captio abruptly shut down. No detailed explanation was given, but the app had been languishing without updates for years, falling behind on iOS API changes. The app was removed from the App Store entirely, leaving existing users stranded.

After the shutdown, former users took to Reddit, Twitter/X, and forums lamenting the lack of a true replacement. While memo apps abound, surprisingly few replicate Captio's specific "memo to email" workflow. This article tests 7 candidates to help displaced Captio users find their next app.

Captioとの最大の違いは、オフライン対応とセキュリティです。圏外でもメモを書いて送信キューに入れることができ、キューに溜まったメモはAES-GCM暗号化で端末内に保護されます。通信回復後に自動送信されるため、地下鉄や飛行機内でも安心して使えます。また、サーバーにメモデータを一切保持しない設計のため、プライバシー面でもCaptioより進化しています。

弱点としては、iOS専用であること、整理・検索機能がないこと（あくまでキャプチャ特化）、そして有料プランが月額500円であることが挙げられます。無料プランでも1日3通まで送信可能で、7日間の無料トライアルが付いています。

Actionを使えばメール送信も可能ですが、初期設定のハードルが高いのが難点です。Action Directoryからメール送信用のActionをインストールし、宛先を設定し、送信フローを構築する必要があります。Captioのように「インストールしてすぐワンタップ送信」とはいきません。テキストを様々なアプリやサービスに振り分けたいパワーユーザーには最高の選択肢ですが、Captioのシンプルさを求めるユーザーにはオーバースペックかもしれません。

無料版でも基本機能は使えますが、Actionの実行やワークスペース機能は有料版（年額3,400円）が必要です。オフラインでのテキスト編集には対応しています。

Captioに最も近い体験を提供するアプリの一つです。コンセプトはほぼ同じで、「自分にメールを送る」に特化しています。UIもシンプルで、テキストを入力して送信ボタンをタップするだけ。Captioからの乗り換え先として最も違和感なく移行できるでしょう。

しかし、起動速度が1.5秒とCaptioの体感速度には及ばず、最大の弱点はオフラインに非対応であることです。圏外環境ではメモを送信できないため、通勤中の地下鉄や出張時の機内など、通信環境が不安定な場面では使い物になりません。また、端末内にデータを暗号化して保存する機能もないため、セキュリティ面ではSimpleMemoに劣ります。

最大のメリットは完全無料であること。有料プランや課金要素がないため、コストをかけずにCaptioの基本体験を再現したい方におすすめです。

名前の通り「自分にメールを送る」専用アプリです。Email Meと似たコンセプトですが、起動速度が2.0秒とやや遅く、UIのデザインもやや古い印象を受けます。ワンタップ送信には対応しており、基本的なCaptio代替としての機能は備えています。

Email Me同様、オフライン対応と暗号化は非対応です。写真添付やファイル添付には対応しているため、テキスト以外のデータもメールに送りたい場合は選択肢になりますが、Captioの「速さとシンプルさ」を求めるユーザーには物足りないかもしれません。無料で使えますが、広告が表示されます。

追加アプリ不要の最もシンプルな方法です。標準のメールアプリ（Apple Mail、Gmail等）を開き、宛先に自分のアドレスを入力してメモを送信します。TLSによる通信暗号化は標準で適用されるため、セキュリティ面では最低限の保護があります。

しかし、Captioの代替としてはほぼ使い物になりません。メールアプリの起動に2.5秒、「新規作成」をタップし、宛先を入力（または連絡先から選択）し、本文を書いて送信する。このステップ数の多さが致命的です。Captioが「1ステップ」で完了していた作業が「5ステップ以上」になります。毎日何度もメモを送る人にとって、この手間は許容できないでしょう。

どうしてもアプリを追加したくない場合の最終手段としてのみ検討してください。

iOSの「ショートカット」アプリでメール送信ワークフローを自作する方法です。「テキスト入力を受け取る → 指定アドレスにメール送信」というショートカットを作成し、ホーム画面にアイコンとして配置すれば、擬似的にCaptioのような体験が得られます。起動速度は約1.0秒で比較的速いです。

ただし、ショートカットの作成にはある程度の知識が必要で、初心者には敷居が高いでしょう。また、オフライン時にはメール送信が失敗し、リトライ機能もありません。UIもショートカットの標準ダイアログに依存するため、Captioのような洗練された入力体験は得られません。

技術的な興味がある方や、完全に無料で済ませたい方には面白い選択肢ですが、日常的に使うツールとしては信頼性に欠けます。

日本のユーザーにとって最も身近な選択肢です。LINEアプリ内の「Keepメモ」機能を使えば、自分だけのトークルームにメモを書き込めます。LINEは日常的に使っているため、追加のアプリインストールが不要な点がメリットです。起動速度は1.8秒。

しかし、Captioの代替としては根本的に異なるコンセプトです。LINE Keep Memoは「メモをメールに送る」機能ではなく、「LINEのトーク画面にメモを残す」機能です。メールの受信箱にメモが届くわけではないため、GTDのワークフロー（受信箱でメモを処理する）には適しません。オフラインでの保存もできず、暗号化も端末レベルのみです。

すでにLINEを使っていて、メールへの送信は不要、ちょっとしたメモを残せればよいという方には十分ですが、Captioの本質的な代替にはなりません。

The biggest evolution over Captio is offline support and security. You can write and queue memos even without a network connection -- queued memos are encrypted with AES-GCM on-device and auto-sent when connectivity returns. Perfect for subways and flights. The server retains zero memo data, making it more private than Captio ever was.

Weaknesses: iOS-only, no organization or search features (it's purely a capture tool), and the premium plan costs $4/month. The free tier allows 3 sends per day and includes a 7-day free trial.

The second-fastest launcher at 0.8 seconds, Drafts is a powerful text editor that shares Captio's "capture first, organize later" philosophy. However, while Captio was solely about email delivery, Drafts is a "text hub" focused on processing, transforming, and routing text to various destinations.

Email sending is possible via Actions, but the setup barrier is significant. You need to install a mail Action from the Action Directory, configure the recipient, and build the sending workflow. Unlike Captio's "install and send" simplicity, Drafts requires deliberate configuration. It's the perfect choice for power users who want to route text to multiple apps and services, but it may be overkill for users who just want Captio's simplicity back.

The free version covers basics, but Action execution and Workspaces require the Pro subscription ($27/year). Offline text editing is supported.

One of the closest experiences to Captio. The concept is nearly identical: type a note and send it to yourself via email. The UI is clean and simple, and the transition from Captio feels seamless. For pure "Captio replacement" feel, Email Me scores highly.

However, its 1.5-second launch speed doesn't match Captio's snappiness, and the biggest deal-breaker is zero offline support. If you're on the subway or a plane without connectivity, Email Me simply won't work. There's also no on-device encryption for queued data, putting it behind SimpleMemo on security.

The major advantage: it's completely free with no paid tier or in-app purchases. If you want the basic Captio experience at zero cost and always have connectivity, Email Me is a strong pick.

As the name suggests, a dedicated "email yourself" app. Similar concept to Email Me but with a 2.0-second launch and a slightly dated UI. One-tap sending works, and it covers the basic Captio replacement function. Photo and file attachments are supported, which is a plus if you need to email non-text content.

Like Email Me, it lacks offline support and encryption. Free but ad-supported. If speed and polish matter to you, there are better options above.

The zero-install option: open your default mail app (Apple Mail, Gmail, etc.), type your own address in the "To" field, write your memo, and hit send. TLS encryption is applied by default for transit security.

As a Captio replacement, this is nearly unusable. The mail app takes 2.5 seconds to launch, then you tap "Compose," enter your address (or pick from contacts), write the body, and send. What Captio did in 1 step now takes 5+. For anyone sending multiple memos daily, this friction is unacceptable. Consider this only as a last resort if you absolutely refuse to install any app.

Build your own Captio-like workflow using the iOS Shortcuts app. Create a shortcut that accepts text input and sends it to a specified email address, then place it on your home screen. Launch speed is about 1.0 second -- relatively quick.

The catch: building the shortcut requires technical knowledge, offline sends fail with no retry, and the UI is limited to the default Shortcuts dialog -- nothing like Captio's polished input experience. An interesting option for tinkerers, but not reliable enough for daily use.

The most accessible option for users in Japan. LINE's built-in "Keep Memo" feature lets you write notes in a private chat room within the LINE app. No additional install needed since most Japanese users already have LINE. Launch takes about 1.8 seconds.

However, this is fundamentally different from Captio. LINE Keep Memo saves notes to a LINE chat -- it does not send them to your email inbox. This breaks the GTD workflow of processing notes from your inbox. No offline saving, and encryption is device-level only. If you just need a quick notepad and don't care about email delivery, it works. But as a true Captio alternative, it falls short.
